Unbound Tips - New digital tools subscriptions available for collaboration and more!
New digital tools available:

Symbaloo, as seen below is an interactive page that you can easily create to make a 'homepage' of most used resources, etc... for your class, research, student club, etc... Super easy to create and you can make it your home page for all your students. Currently, I am creating a Symbaloo page for MS research and adding links in collaboration with students. You can make the page collaborative or static. Click here to see our first two webmixes under construction.
ZAPTION - create your own interactive videos. Zaption allows you to edit videos with discussion points, questions, etc... You can use for making 'flipped lessons' rather easily, to stimulate class discussion or create an online quiz. A number of teachers took part in a workshop last year and are using the free version. Watch a tour of how it works. You can share your Zaption interactive video directly with Google Classroom.
Flipgrid - Create questions using text or video, send the grid to your students and/or others and they can record a video response. The entire class can review and 'like' each other responses, etc...
Leads to collaboration and community building. Students love the format as it is simple and powerful. Check out the example below of grade 5 students' book recommendations.

Using QR codes to learn about Information Literacy
Recently, grade 7 language arts students took part in a QR code scavenger hunt to apply their knowledge about information literacy. The hunt took them on a journey through various parts of the library. Most students stated that they learned new things and explored some collections for the first time. For example, students were surprised to learn about the short story collections. Students were excited to see that many of their video book talks have been QR coded and are available for students to view at any time. Students are welcome to use the library iPads to explore the QR codes - especially the mystery video book talks.
